We love bringing in new people into our community! We have quite an informal, no-frills process to playing Arma with us. We have a handful of expectations we have of new members, which can be found below.
Obviously, you must own a legitimate copy of Arma 3 to play with us.
We do use APEX DLC assets, but you don't have to have the DLC when you join. We do not use any other DLC.
We use Teamspeak 3 for voice communication in-game. Most new joins have never used it and that's fine, but it's a free download and easy to set up.
You must have and be willing to use a microphone. You simply can't coordinate well trying to frantically type to people. You can join if you do not have one but plan to get one soon.
We have an extensive modpack, which you can easily install from the steam workshop. You must be willing to get them, as well as have the internet/storage to get them. You are not allowed to use more mods than are in the modpack during our sessions.
We do have a discord server which we use to coordinate events and use to talk outside of our sessions. For the most part we rarely use this for voice communication, but it has happened while teamspeak was down.
We do not currently have an age requirement. We do expect everyone to act like an adult. You will not be kicked for being 14 but you will be kicked for acting 14.
We do not expressly ban specific words or speech, but you should see the 'maturity' and 'respect' rules which will likely cover such issues. If what you're going to say is going to cause a ruckus then don't say it. We're here to play Arma, not to debate real-world sociopolitical issues.
We do not have an attendance requirement. We are expecting you to be joining with the intention of being an active and productive member, though; if we are lucky to hear from you once every couple of months this probably isn't the place for you.
You should obviously show respect to everyone in the group. You're inevitably going to dislike someone, or get annoyed, but you should be mature enough to swallow it while playing with us.
We are not a hyper-realism unit. We do, however, play our missions seriously once they begin and you should not be lone-wolfing or ruining the mood for everyone. Follow the mission's plan, stick with your section, oblige the session admin, and carry out whatever plans that missions leadership have laid out.
Do not attempt to find metagame ways to get advantage and follow mission-specific rules even if they don't make 'meta' sense.
This is an online community made up of human beings from across the world; it's guaranteed that you will get pissed off at a mission, mission maker, admin, or just some random member of your team during a mission.
That's just the way it is. You should never let this 'boil over.' Resolve your issues as directly and politely as possible, or take it to an admin after the session and privately. There's also nothing wrong with just taking a break to cool off.
If you've looked over everything, first and foremost thanks for your time and consideration!
Reach out to our unit leader, DaMonkey, via Discord and we'll get you set up. Make sure to tell him why you're getting in touch with him, or you may get 'lost' in the confusion.
